Cement Industry uses Process Bag Filters majorly for the Cement Grinding Mill and Coal Grinding Mill processes. Our Process Filters are high efficiency equipment that offer high removal efficiencies for even finer particulates. In designing a fabric filter unit, main consideration would be the type of filter cloth, method of cleaning and pressure drop. However, process parameters like particulate characteristics, carrier gas characteristics and process factors form the basis in selection of fabric filters. The fabric filter systems are frequently referred to as bag houses or bag filters, since the fabric is usually configured in cylindrical “bags”.

The principle criteria for fabric filters will be the type of filter cloth suitable for a particular application. A wide variety of natural and synthetic filter clothes are available in the market. It is necessary to select one which has a suitably long life at reasonable cost under conditions prevailing in a given situation.

The method of cleaning is very important and there are basically three types viz., mechanical shaking, reverse air cleaning and pulse jet cleaning. In any method, the fabric material must have sufficient mechanical strength to withstand the repeated flexing involved. Inefficient cleaning will increase pressure drops resulting in high operational and maintenance costs.

Pressure drops are high in fabric filter units when compared to other dry type collectors like cyclones or electrostatic precipitators. Selection of proper filter cloth and cleaning cycle is essential to operate fabric filter units at optimum pressure drops. The maximum pressure drop, just before cleaning or replacement must be estimated in order to determine the power required for the operation.

The mechanical arrangement of fixing bags to filter unit tube sheets should be designed for easy maintenance and also to prevent any dust leakage during operation. Cages holding bags are to be properly designed and fabricated to avoid damage and frequent replacement of filter bags.

Bag filters are designed in such a way that there is equal gas distribution inside the bag filter and majority of dust is captured inside the hopper, as a result less particles reach the filter bags for filtration. and provide larger area for the particles to settle down. This ensures the lower pressure drop across the bag filter.

Medium to high pressure cleaning system is used for efficient cleaning of the filter bags.

CLAIR has the capability of providing long bag technology for process filters with filter bags up to 12 m length.

CLAIR offers different types of gas entry in the bag filter i.e., Hopper entry, inlet plenum or extended hopper entry, central plenum entry and depending on the application, bypass entry is also provided.

Filter bags are selected depending on the operating process temperature, type of dust, moisture content and flue gas composition as well. Also, depending on the required emission, treatment for bags shall be opted.

To assure easy dislodging of dust, hoppers valley angles are considered based on dust characteristics. Also, CLAIR offers pyramidal type and trough type hoppers depending on the application.

Screw conveyors or chain conveyors used for trough hoppers are manufactured by M/s. CLAIR itself.
